GT 42 - Technical trail running on Belgium's most beautiful trails!

Objective: finish strong.

Technical marathon | 47 km | +1,888 m elevation gain

The GT42 is a demanding and selective marathon trail that follows the most technical trails in the Warche Valley. Classified as a UTMB Index 50K, it has already been used for the Belgian short and long trail championships.

The route covers a total of 47 km with an elevation gain of +1,888 m, featuring a steady alternation of single tracks, steep climbs, technical descents, and rolling sections that allow you to pick up speed again. The terrain is varied: roots, rocks, scree, forest areas, balcony trails, and sometimes exposed passages.

Key points of the route include:

  • Robertville Lake

  • the old oak tree

  • Reinhardstein Castle

  • the ridge road

  • Napoleon's Nose

The GT42 requires good energy management, downhill control, and adequate logistical support. The repeated changes in pace and the technical nature of the terrain make this a comprehensive race, intended for experienced trail runners looking for a challenging marathon format.

Goal: finish strong.
Bonus: enjoy one of Belgium's most authentic trail running terrains.
